| Devotions by Jeremy Dean (guitarist for Scourge)
Today I was reading in Psalms where God said that He remembered man's frame and that we were nothing but dust. That verse really stuck out to me because so many times I get to thinking that I'm more than I am and start taking for granted what all God has done for me. It just seems that we as humans get caught up in selfish, pridefull things. We think God owes us something. Or we think that just because we're Christians or popular or have lots of money, friends etc. that for some reason we're something. I think of all the times that God has just smacked me upside the head to remind me of how big He really is. The next time you look of in the sky and see the sun, remember that the very same God that made all the universe and threw all the billions of stars in the sky cares enough about little humans like us to show us His undying mercy. We don't deserve God's mercy or his love and there's nothing in this world we in ourselves could ever do to earn it. But God just keeps on loving us because that's the kind of Father He is. So, the next time you or me start thinking we're something and that we're better than anyone else, just think of where we'd be without God's eternal love and forgiveness. That thought should humble us all! |
